The pastel colored bath/shower/laundry buildings, reminiscent of the FL Keys, are dispersed among the campground. They are clean, neat and contemporary.
Depending upon location the walk to their beach and to Paradise Landing Tiki Bar can be lengthy as their site map confirms. However, the white sand beach with tiki-huts is worth the walk as is the food at the Paradise Landing Tiki Bar. We had lunch at the Paradise with great views of the Bay which is uniquely served by a BBQ truck on weekends, otherwise the food is prepared up the road at their other eatery and delivered hot and fresh. We had the grouper sandwich, which came from their restaurant up the street, served hot and fresh.
Landscaping is minimal so no trees obstructing our navigation. However, it should be noted that they have planted small bushes at the corners of each site entrance so instead of a one point backing turn it requires a 2 to 3 point turn to be able to back into the assigned site due to the narrow roads. A visit to their website is one click away from their on-line reservation system. Although not as refined as some park’s reservation apps, as previously observed in other reviews, it does afford the ability to pick a site ‘category’ but not a particular site; the process is quick and easy to complete.
Their website promotes free WiFi; using our Winegard ConnecT were able to stream movies with little or no buffering. WiFi signal strength was 98% at -38dBm. Accordingly there was no stalling and we streamed movies and Fox Cable news in HD. The Winegard Rayzor Automatic enabled us to pull in local tv; since this is the Delmarva Peninsula there are a limited number of over-the-air channels available in SD; cable is provided at each site which we did not avail ourselves of. Pictures on their web site and Google Maps are representative of the conditions we observed August 2019.
The Takeaway: Massey’s Landing offers a clean white sand beach with the Paradise Landing Tiki Bar conveniently adjacent, on Rehoboth Bay. Located within the Delmarva Peninsula on the far eastern shore and protected by the peninsula beaches (barrier beaches) of Rhoboth and Bethany as bulwarks to the Atlantic Ocean. Aside from the on-premises amenities Massey’s is within striking distance of historical Lewes, MD (founded 1631and includes the Ryves Holt House, circa 1665), the Lightship Overfalls, Fenwick Island Lighthouse (an enjoyable ride down US 1 from Dewey Beach to the North or from Bethay Beach to the South), and not to be bypassed is 2nd Time Designs in Millsboro, DE. The park occupies a quiet area on the Western shore of Rehoboth Bay with a public boat launch conveniently located several hundred yards away. Sites amenities vary as noted above; all feature level spaces, FHU, strong 50 amp electrical, and cable. WiFi is good and supports streaming. There are some very good local restaurants and seafood markets in Lewes, and Selbyville, DE. And there are 4 lighthouses from Lewes to Fenwick Island to explore (not all are accessible). We visited August 2019.
