This is an update of a previous visit to Custer Battlefield Trading Post. After touring Little Bighorn Battlefield (aka Custer's Last Stand) we stopped at Custer Battlefield Trading Post for lunch. As in the past we appreciated the delicious food from two years previous we knew exactly what to order-Buffalo Burgers. As usual the food was served promptly and courteously; well prepared large burgers done as ordered. The store carries quality merchandise and jewelry. The quality was so good that we purchased a sterling stone bracelet (from SW Arizona) and then some beads (made locally by the Crow) in a belt buckle and earrings. In addition we purchased several Tony Lama embroidered and stitched belts (to our disappointment they are made in China-remember when Tony Lama merchandise was hand crafted in Texas?) Putt continues to collect Native American artifacts and maintain his Indian friendships. The highlight of our visit to the Trading Post was renewing our acquaintance with Putt, the owner. He graciously showed us some of the artifacts he had acquired since our last visit. This essay includes heretofore unpublished photos of Putt’s collection. Putt is a valuable resource of Native American Indian knowledge and my wife and I truly enjoyed learning about Indian antiques/artifacts. This is truly a must stop when one visits the Battlefield; a unique restaurant and store located Crow Agency, MT. Go to www.rickpicks.com for more pictures, other reviews, critiques and essays with links to area attractions and a more detailed review of this park as well as reviews of restaurants, etc.
