The wildfires in California always gain National attention. However the experience is remote if one does not live in California. This year we visited Truckee, CA and Lake Tahoe. The smoke from the Dixie and Tamarack fires, depending upon the meteorological conditions, was intense as these pictures demonstrate. Not only did the smoke turn daytime into an eerie scene reminiscent of dusk; it sometimes ‘rained’ ash covering vehicles like a light snow.
