Mt. Rushmore Evening Lighting Ceremony, Keystone, SD

Mt. Rushmore, the Evening Lighting Ceremony, is a special event occurring all summer long at dusk. Having visited once before and not taking advantage of the lighting ceremony we arrived ahead of time at 8:30 to ensure seats and stroll before the free event. It is a simple affair and one that does not require embellishment-the main characters (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln) are the focal point with the coming of dusk and illumination of the sculpture. Gutzen Borglum is the primary architect/designer who finished the project in 1941.Enjoy the pictures.
