Green Acres RV Park, Savannah, TN

Green Acres RV Park is conveniently located on Route 128S, Savannah, TN. It is the nicest rv park in the area for a number of reasons. Access into the campground and the roads within are easily navigated by our 45’ motorcoach with a tow vehicle. The roads and sites are manicured gravel with an expansive patio complete with picnic table (and a fire pit upon request). The only concern is exiting the pull thru sites which have a steep drop off after the level pad area and we choose, as did other motorcoaches, to back out instead of moving forward for fear of bottoming out on the crest of the steep slope departing the level pad area. That being noted this park is well maintained, actually manicured lawns and landscaping, and neat and tidy-refreshing. This contributes to the overall enjoyment and tranquility of this campground built on the side of a small hillside. The buildings are well maintained and the office building also houses the private bathrooms, and separately the laundry and private shower rooms. The bathrooms and showers are exceptionally clean and contemporary. The pool is particularly clean with no ‘ring-around-the-collar’ filled with refreshingly temperate salt water to enjoy. The pool apron is complete with numerous chairs and lounges for guests.

In front of the campground, between the park and Rte 128, is a newly opened BBQ pit with an interesting interior décor and serving good BBQ (the brisket is exceptional). Also, adjacent, is a soon to open Mexican restaurant. Accordingly good food is within walking distance of your campsite.

Savannah offers a plethora of attractions and activities. And note that this is the catfish capitol of the world aside from offering excellent bass fishing. Many tournaments are held both on Pickwick Lake and the Tennessee River every year. Although controlled by 9 dams with locks (most built in the late 1930’s) on the main stem of the 652 mile Tennessee River, the area downriver of Pickwick Dam(headed north) floods. In 2019 they experienced their second worst flood ever at 394.5 feet (this put 9’ of water over the River bottomland inundating houses built along its banks).

Not to miss is a tour of the Shiloh National Military Park, visiting Pickwick Dam, the Tennessee River Museum, and the Cherry Mansion. The marinas in the area offer boat rentals for one to explore Pickwick Lake as well as the Tennessee River downstream.

The FHU utilities are standard and we continuously drew 65-70 amps with no issues. WiFi is unparalleled (compared to most rv parks) supporting streaming music and HD movies simultaneously on our smart TV. WiFi recorded 100% signal and -34dBM for a satisfying internet experience. It is to their credit to have invested in such internet performance as too many rv parks still neglect to invest in this 21st century medium (cable and satellite are outdated and I believe millennials will be the catalyst  for improvement in this area). OTA (over the air antenna) received several local channels in SD and HD.

The Takeaway: Green Acres RV offers manicured and well maintained grounds featuring tidy gravel roads and level sites. The salt water pool, private bathrooms, and private showers are meticulously clean. The overall condition of this campground contributes to a peaceful and relaxing experience. The location is convenient for visiting the surrounding ‘three corners’(TN, MS,AL) only 10 miles away, and driving to explore historic Clifton is a 30 minute drive. With the independently owned restaurants adjacent to the campground, the historic battlefield, the mansion, and the amenities offered this is a destination park.
